Watershed University
Where: City of Redding, Shasta County
When: September 15 - 16, 2010
What: Curriculum focused on NFIP programs, tools and resources to keep you current with FEMA’s mapping and flood risk management efforts. The California Department of Water Resources Flood SAFE program will also be discussed.
Instructors: Content will be delivered by staff from Region 9’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consultants, as well as California Department of Water Resources staff.
Who should attend: Local community officials, especially planning staff, engineers, GIS staff, and emergency services staff who are interested in FEMA’s flood mapping efforts, flood risk management, digital GIS-data and an introduction to other valuable resources to address your floodplain questions.
* There is no cost for attendance, 12 core Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for Certified Floodplain Managers (CFM) will be given for full attendance, and transportation and lodging (click here for hotel information) are the responsibility of the attendee. Participants interested in receiving CECs for attendence need to complete this CEC form (PDF) and provide the completed form to California’s Floodplain Management Association.

FEMA’s L-278 – National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (CRS) Training
Where: City of Stockton, San Joaquin County
When: October 25 – 28, 2010
This course covers the CRS, a nationwide initiative of FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program. It describes activities eligible for credit under CRS, how communities apply, and how a community modifies an application to improve its classification.
