The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is working with State agencies, regional entities, tribes, and communities to update the flood hazard risk information and produce new digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).  Per FEMA’s new Expanded Appeals Process,  studies and Physical Map Revisions (PMRs) for which Proposed Flood Elevation Determination Notices have yet to be published in the Federal Register and those for which preliminary FIRMs and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports will be issued on or after December 1, 2011, will be posted to county-specific pages on this site.  Studies processed using the appeal initiation process in effect prior to December 1, 2011, will not be restarted.  To reference studies that are already effective, please visit the Map Service Center.

To determine the status of Preliminary Map products and location of Revised Flood Hazard Maps for counties in Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada, interested parties should:

  • Double click on the county name from the map posted on the Region IX page to view that county’s preliminary FIRMs or Letters of Map Revision (LOMR).  Counties with active projects will change color on the map when hovered over with your mouse.
  • Visit the Community Map Repository in the community of interest to view paper copies of the FIRMs and the accompanying FIS reports.  The Community Map Repository is the local office in a participating community where the NFIP flood hazard maps, FIS reports, and related products (e.g., Letters of Map Change) are kept for local use and viewing by citizens.  The addresses of the Community Map Repositories are provided on the FIRM indexes; you may also obtain information on the Community Map Repositories by contacting the FEMA Map Information Exchange (FMIX), toll free, at 1-877-FEMA MAP (1-877-336-2627).
